Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen Netflix: Everything We Know

Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen: Does The Duffer Brothers’ New Horror Wedding Series Have Stranger Things in store for us all?

Imagine the worst wedding anxiety you’ve ever had—now add a supernatural, claustrophobic dread. Netflix’s upcoming limited series, Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen, isn’t just a title; it feels more like a warning. My first response to the trailer was, “Okay, but what is going to happen??” It’s a promise that something chilling is coming to our Netflix queue this March.

  • Format: 8 Episodes (Limited Series)
  • Premiere Date: March 26, 2026

The Synopsis: Till Death Do Us Part (Literally)

If Carrie is horror’s version of a girl becoming a woman, and Rosemary’s Baby is the horrific version of a woman becoming a mother, then Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen is horror’s take on a woman becoming a wife.

Rachel (Camila Morrone) is getting married in five days. Together with her fiancé, Nicky (Adam DiMarco), she embarks on a mid-winter road trip to his family’s secluded vacation home for the intimate wedding of their dreams. It sounds lovely, except for the snowy forest, the isolation, and Rachel’s own superstition. Prone to paranoia, she can’t shake the relentless feeling that… well, you know. Her foreboding doubts, coupled with a series of eerie coincidences, force her to ask the terrifying question: What could be scarier than a lifelong commitment to the wrong person?+2

  • TL;DR: The Mungle Breakdown
  • The Vibe: Rosemary’s Baby meets a snowy White Lotus.
  • The Pedigree: Produced by the Duffer Brothers; created by Haley Z. Boston.
  • The Cast: Camila Morrone and Adam DiMarco, with a “must-watch” performance by Jennifer Jason Leigh.
  • Release Date: All 8 episodes drop on Netflix, March 26, 2026.

The Visionary Behind “Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen” on Netflix

The Duffer Brothers did a little series called Stranger Things. Heard of it? It changed streaming forever and turned “The Upside Down” into a household name.

While the Duffers are producing, the real “brain” here is Executive Producer/Showrunner Haley Z. Boston. You might not recognize the name yet, but she wrote for Brand New Cherry Flavor and Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities. Clearly, she has a “twisted” voice that caught the Duffers’ eyes, and I am incredibly curious to see what weirdness she brings to a wedding setting.

Meet the Cast: Who is Starring in the New Netflix Horror Series?

  • The Stars: Camila Morrone (Rachel) and Adam DiMarco (Nicky). I know Morrone mainly from Daisy Jones & the Six (watch it if you’re a classic rock fan!) while most will recognize DiMarco as “Albie” from The White Lotus. Seeing them in a dark, atmospheric horror like this is a massive pivot, and I’m here for it.
  • The Supporting Heavyweight: Jennifer Jason Leigh plays the matriarch, Victoria Cunningham. JJL’s presence alone promises a character that is as unhinged as she is captivating. If we get anything close to her 90s thriller era, I am all in. My only hope? That she’s a central player and not just “watch bait” for the trailer.

Wedding Horror: The Plot of “Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen”

  • The Setting: A secluded, mid-winter family retreat. Nothing bad ever happens there, right? I expect plenty of skeletons in these closets. I’m hoping they amp up the “creep factor” immediately rather than lulling us into a slow burn that takes four episodes to get moving.
  • The Conflict: Rachel enters her fiancé’s family cabin and immediately feels the “wrongness.” Is it the in-laws? Or just wedding jitters? I’m getting strong Fall of the House of Usher vibes from the family gathering photos—which is always a good sign.
  • The Core Theme: Netflix has shown us that “Love is Blind,” but here, love is intense and potentially deadly. Is the wedding a metaphor for psychological collapse? Or just a catalyst for something more sinister?

Why the Duffer Brothers’ Latest Project is 2026’s Most Anticipated Watch

In an era of jump-scares and “slop” horror, this creative team has the opportunity to give us something that truly crawls under the skin. This Netflix series looks to double down on psychological discomfort. It poses the ultimate horror question: is it less about “what’s in the cabin” and more about “who is standing at the altar next to me?”

Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen marks the latest expansion of the Netflix / Upside Down Pictures deal, which includes the Stranger Things stage play and the upcoming The Boroughs. But for fans of psychological dread, this wedding might be the most important date on the 2026 calendar.
