Out of print since 1980, the record is pressed on 180-gram black vinyl and housed in a gatefold jacket featuring the original Star Wars paintings and notes. Available now from VarèseSarabande.com along with two limited exclusive versions: “Imperial Grey Marble” (Newbury Comics), and a Canadian exclusive on “Cloud City Orange” available only at Sunrise retail shops.
As soon as I put the needle down it was as if I had been transported back to my teen years. This soundtrack is fabulous and to have it on vinyl is next level. At one point during The Imperial March my 9-year old son came running in yelling, “Darth Vader!”. That shows the iconic nature of this wonderful score.
The graphics are fantastic and has a retro feel that fits perfectly with the vinyl release. Informative liner notes round out the gatefold jacket. For fans of Star Wars and those rebuilding their vinyl collection this is a must own.
