CELEBRATING THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE 1999 PERFORMANCE AND GRAMMY-WINNING S&M ALBUM, METALLICA & SAN FRANCISCO SYMPHONY REUNITE FOR S&M².
The film, Metallica and San Francisco Symphony: S&M² was recorded live during the September 6th and 8th Chase Center concerts, in advance of its release in theaters around the globe this October. Featuring the first live performances of original S&M arrangements since 1999 as well as symphonic versions of several songs released since then, this theatrical release gives millions of fans around the world the chance to experience S&M2.
Review: Fans of the Mighty Met will appreciate this new anniversary concert reunion with the San Francisco Symphony. A mix of the classics we love and some new stuff as well. Don’t think for a moment that the addition of an orchestra took any of the power away from the blunt force trauma of a live Metallica show. You can put a tux on a wrecking ball and it will still bust through anything in its path.
Filmed before a packed Chase Center audience the film captures every moment of the show from multi camera angles. You will feel like you have the best seat in the house as you move in and out the orchestra and middle stage with the 4 -horsemen of the arockalypse. – That sounded less cheesy in my head. The sound is incredible too with the perfect mix of power chords, symphony strings, and audience chants. At times I would close my eyes and let the notes wash over me.
This was a limited theater engagement and you have to catch it quick. I am hoping that it hits home video – this thing screams for a 4k release – soon so fans across the globe can witness this reunion of the decade.
It is also worth noting that there are some nice behind the scenes clips at the beginning of the band’s humanitarian efforts and all the good that AllWithinMyHands provides to communities.
