IF is now streaming on Paramount+. If ever there was a perfect family movie night option it is IF. Funny, touching, and a wonderful reminder to never lose site of the kid inside.
Synopsis: A young girl who goes through a difficult experience begins to see everyone’s imaginary friends who have been left behind as their real-life friends have grown up.
Written and directed by John Krasinski, this film is a far cry from his Quiet Place creations. Yet at the same time IF has the same family rooted theme that embodied A Quiet Place. Obviously the beauty of family is at the core of all he does.
Lots of creative imagery here as all the Imaginary Friends come to life. It is up to a young girl named Bea (Cailey Fleming) and a cranky guy upstairs named Cal (Ryan Reynolds) to figure out how to reunite the IFs with their now adult companions.
Krasinski got a lot of well know actors to voice all his IFs. Steve Carell being given the task of Voicing Blue; the main IF of this story. Others include Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Louis Gossett Jr., Awkwafina, Emily Blunt, George Clooney, Bradley Cooper, Matt Damon, Bill Hader, Richard Jenkins, Amy Shumer, Blake Lively, Keegan-Michael Key, and even more! It is like an Oceans 15 going on here.
Our family had fun with this one as we curled up on the couch with some popcorn and snacks.
