My “wanna see” flick list

In no particular order (unless release date is an order) here are some films coming up in 2018 that I wanna see. Some for artistic value and even more just for guilty pleasure and morbid curiosity.

Ready Player One (03/30)
Although the latest trailer makes me breath easier I am still concerned if even Director Steven Spielberg can capture all the pop culture greatness of the book. Still, I want to see it for sure.

A Quiet Place (04/06)
This horror thriller stars and is directed by John Krasinski. Although I would love for it to also star Jenna Fischer I am ok with his real wife Emily Blunt taking her place. The premise is intriguing but I am worried it might be another IT COMES AT NIGHT. But let’s hope not.

Tully (04/20)
I know, I know, this is a total mom movie. I first heard of it when my wife mentioned her baby board is all over it. Once I heard it was directed by Jason Reitman (Juno/Up in the Air)  and written by Diablo Cody (Juno/Young Adult) I was immediately on board.

The Untitled Deadpool Sequel (05/18)
Umm, it’s Deadpool. Hoping they didn’t forget what worked in the first one.

Solo: A Star Wars Story (05/25)
Umm, it’s Star Wars. Actually I am not as gung-ho on all the origin stories that are in the works from the SW Universe. But Han Solo is one that should be grand. I read the Han Solo Trilogy (the Ann C. Crispin ones) and his story has depth, intrigue and scruffy, nerf herding elements.

Ocean’s 8 (06/08)
I will probably be banished from some movie clubs but I don’t care. I am all about this female driven Ocean’s 11 flick. I can take the heat since I endured ridicule due to my love for the Ghostbusters remake a few years ago. So bring it on.

Won’t You Be My Neighbor? (06/08)
I grew up with Mr. Rogers Neighborhood and I am excited about this new documentary. Hopefully it shows people the great benefactor Fred Rogers was off camera. He helped raise a generation and deserves to have his story told meow meow.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (06/22)
OMG I love the Jurassic Universe! – ok maybe not so much The Lost World – but the rest are the best. I literally watch the original film at least 5 or 6 times a year. If you love it as much as me you should check out this site.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (07/20)
That scene in the trailer with Cher is enough for me. I am mostly trusting in the cast of Lily James, Meryl Streep, Christine Baranski, and Amanda Seyfried.

Crazy Rich Asians (08/17)
I am currently listening to the audio book. If handled correctly this could be the best character based film of the year.

Venom (10/05)
Not a lot is known about the plot but I am intrigued to see how Tom Hardy and Woody Harrelson interact.

A Star is Born (10/05)
This remake is directed by and stars Bradley Cooper. But… it also has Lady Gaga… so win.

First Man (10/12)
Damien Chazelle (LaLa Land) takes on the story of Neil Armstrong (Ryan Gosling) and his journey to the moon. I appreciate Chazelle and Gosling can do a lot with this character.

Halloween (10/19)
Jamie Lee Curtis is back as Laurie Strode to conclude this iconic horror franchise… or will it.

Mary Queen of Scotts (11/02)
The 2017 Oscar nominated females (Margot Robbie, Saoirse Ronan) go full on period piece and I think it is going to be stunning.

Holmes and Watson (12/21)
This movie is going to be so freaking stupid. But the thought of Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly taking on Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic mysteries is too good to pass up.
