FIND ME FALLING is now streaming exclusively on Netflix. A cute little rom-com-drama that is an easy watch and solid option for Hallmark fans, and those who just like a sweet story. Is Harry Connick Jr. a strong selling point? Absolutely.
Synopsis: After a failed comeback album, rock star John Allman (Connick) escapes to a dreamy Mediterranean island, only to discover that his new cliffside home has an unfortunate notoriety that attracts unwanted visitors and an old flame.
The plot is even simpler than that. Allman moves back to Cyprus where years earlier he fell in love and wrote his biggest hit. Whether he is trying to escape life or find it is hard to tell. What he does find is some new friends, a new start, and an ex lover who has a secret or two.
It is always nice to see Connick in this type of role. He is laid back and quiet. Struggling with some demons. But it feels real watching him go through the emotions. The script is not complex and ar times feels predictable and formulaic. But have you ever watched a made for TV romance? We often don’t want to think too hard in these.
I enjoyed all the characters in this one. Each one brings a different style of humor and Greek flare. Watching their relaxed lifestyle will make you wonder why we get so caught up in the stress of the American dream. Most are very accepting of John, being excited to have a famous rock star in their small town.
There is nice dose of music in this one. We get a small dose from Harry, but even more from actress Ali Fumiko Whitney who plays the daughter of one of the town’s local women. She sings in a small cafe, and it is obvious she has the talent to make it anywhere. This appeals to John as he sees something in her worth helping. Their relationship is humorous to watch and ends up being a pivotal part of the story.
Love wins in the end as it always does with these films. And we applaud it for that. When it comes to streaming a movie you can enjoy with little thought we embrace these heartily.
FIND ME FALLING is rated TV-MA. Other some some mild curse words and one heavy moment at the start, it has very little to be offended by or concerned about.
