Fatal Attraction Premiers

Fatal Attraction Premieres with the first 3 episodes Sunday April 30th exclusively on Paramount+.

The all-new series is a deep dive reimagining of the 1980s cultural touchstone FATAL ATTRACTION through the lens of privilege, personality disorders, family dynamics and murder. In the present day, after serving 15 years in prison for the murder of Alexandra Forrest (Lizzy Caplan), Daniel Gallagher (Joshua Jackson) is paroled with the goals of reconnecting with his family and proving his innocence. In 2008, Dan first meets Alex and his world begins to unravel after their brief affair threatens to destroy the life he’s built with his wife, Beth (Amanda Peet).

Whether you watched the 1987 classic film once or several times, these character names immediately stir up emotions. The series gets to pull from these characters while also filling in the gaps with more meat. If the 87 film was a news headline, this series would be a behind the scenes documentary of what really happened.

The first episode has a lot of set up and plot introduction. It flashes between current day and then gives you the back story in pieces. This works well enough. It is hard not to judge Jackson since most of us already have the Michael Douglas version in our minds. Joshua gives us a slightly different take on Dan. It is hard to tell if the writers want you to like him or not. It is easy not to.

It is obvious that Dan’s daughter – who is just a child in the film – will play a bigger role in the series. She is grown when we meet her and doesn’t really know her dad. Most of her life was him in prison. Now that he is on parole they will try and reconnect.

There is no doubt that we were all freaked out by Alex in the film. Fans who want more than that need to buckle up for the ride. If you think she made crazy an art form in 120-minutes see what she does in 8 episodes!
