A Tourist’s Guide to Love is now on Netflix. Someone should let Hallmark know, as I am sure they are looking for their lost film. Granted Hallmark does not have a monopoly on formulaic, romantic, adventures, and Netflix is as good a place as any to watch them.

A Tourist's Guide to Love

Synopsis: After an unexpected breakup, a travel executive (Rachael Leigh Cook) accepts an assignment to go undercover and learn about the tourist industry in Vietnam. Along the way she finds adventure and romance with her Vietnamese expat tour guide (Scott Ly) when they decide to reroute the tour bus in order to explore life and love off the beaten path.

This family friendly romance has everything you want in a love adventure. Foreign lands, twists of fate, and a hidden agenda that can only be revealed to the new love moments before the film is over. Two souls who would never meet in conventional ways, but only when thrown together in opportunistic ways.

Vietnam is a beautiful backdrop for this story, and its culture and history become another character. Cook and Ly have a cute chemistry that make it easy to root for their characters. We all know how these movies will turn out, but that does not mean we can undo the drama we know is coming. Will the old flame return to quench the new fires of passion? You know as well as I do how that will work out. But we love it all the same.
