80 for Brady is a comedy for the ages, especially if you are above a certain age. Based on four actual ladies, this film if anything is encouraging, and a reminder that life is made for living. Also, good luck finding a film that stars Tom Brady and a cast that has twelve Oscar nominations and five wins.
A group of friends made it their life-long mission to go to the Super Bowl and meet NFL superstar Tom Brady. That is enough of a synopsis to create a lot of zany adventures, all set during Super Bowl weekend.
Getting to the Super Bowl is the easy part. Surviving the weekend is another story. High end parties, lost tickets, and hard nosed security guards all stand in the way of these women and getting to Tom.
Cameos abound in this one which adds to the fun. Yes there are a lot of eye rolling moments. It is about as plausible as Star Wars, but none of that really matters. Watching these four award winning, iconic actresses in their element is worth the clingy dialogue and goofy old people jokes.
Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno, Lily Tomlin, and the youngster Sally Field show that talent never goes away. I would say I wish I looked that good when I am their age but honestly I wished I looked that good now!
Based on Super Bowl LI between the Falcons and The Patriots it fictitiously explains how Brady mounted the largest comeback in Super Bowl history. There is a lot here for football fans to focus on, but to be honest it is more about these wonderful women. In other words, my mom will love it.
80 for Brady is rated PG-13 for brief strong language, some drug content and some suggestive references. If you missed it in theaters look for it to stream on Paramount+
